Sustainability in projects

I wrote some project applications for educational projects in the last weeks. Its hard work and I could not have manage that without exchanging my ideas with Isabell and Hagen, without their feedback and support. There are always some tricky points in such applications and you have to answer, among others, how you will sustain the envisaged impact of the project beyond its lifetime. This is tight connected to the methodology you will use to achieve the aims of a certain project. The following generalized summary mirrors the main points of what I have written for different projects.

Global Tourism Forum Andorra

I had the opportunity to attend the Global Tourism Forum (GTF) in Andorra on Monday this week. Approximately 200 representatives, leaders of global players in the tourism industry, politicians and lobbyist where attending that event, organized by UNWTO.
The forum was hosted by the government of Andorra, sponsored by Visa, Andorra Telecom, Feda, the Andorra energy supplier and the media partner was CNN.

old houses

Challenging work

We already started the work at the places2b project, locally and inside the partnership and I have to state that this work is really challenging for different reasons. We aim to bring together local authorities and local people to discuss the development of tourism and to create a regional tourist guide, containing unique places of the region. Sounds good, nearly everyone likes this idea, even the local authorities. So they’re saying. But when it comes to step up, they have many reasons not to show up. I know, that this is a long haul and we have to be really optimistic.

places2b

Due to fast globalization and the possibility to get to every place in the world in less time, people want to have authentic and individualized experiences while spending their spare time. The preservation and promotion of their landscape and culture for developing sustainable touristic structures will be important for European regions and its embedded local areas. That can also be a chance for supporting the diversification of regional economies.

Cassagnes

Talking about wine in Cassagnes

Most of the time, I really like what I do but sometimes, I feel a bit privileged, when I go to  work, such as today. I started early in the morning to meet Cecile from Domaine Revelh. The  one hour drive from Fitou to Cassagnes, where she lives, really impressed me. It’s just a gorgeous landscape, with thousands fragrances and fantastic views.

All about houses

As you probably might know, I love old houses. I love to unearth the little secrets hidden in a house, explore how it was built, the materials used and of course, I love to restore it. It was obvious to create a European project out of this love and so I did. I wrote down the idea and searched for partners in Europe who might be interested in doing that project.
